Saturday Morning Exchange is a fic exchange specifically for cartoon/animation based fandoms. Participants are expected to write and will in turn receive a fanfiction that is a minimum of 500 words featuring a fandom and pairing that they requested.

-Participants must be at least eighteen years old and have an AO3 account

-Participants should only sign up and nominate with one account

-You may nominate ships/fandoms without plans to participate

Nominations and Eligibility

The Nomination phase is where you have a chance to submit fandoms and characters/ships to request for the exchange. This creates a pool for participants to choose from when the sign up stage begins.

-You are not required to sign-up in order to nominate fandoms. It's totally fine if you just want to add to the tag pool or if you change your mind on signing up after nominations

-You can nominate up to five fandoms with up to ten relationships each

-Nominations will all be reviewed before the sign-up period begins. If this takes longer than anticipated, the sign up period will be pushed back.

What is eligible?

Fandoms must be about animated media. For the purpose of the exchange, please limit nominations to; movies, OVAs, and tv/streaming/web series.

Eligible

-3D or 2D animation

-Anime

-Partially animated media (Ex: Who Framed Roger Rabbit 1988)

Not Eligible

-Video games with animated cutscenes

-’Story time’ Channels or videos, Animation Memes, AMVs, specific Fan-animations, or re-animated projects

-Any Media that will not release until after nominations are closed

General Nomination Guidelines

-Please nominate romantic ships with a /

Ex: “Daffy Duck/Lola Bunny (The Looney Toons Show)”
-Please nominate platonic ships with an &

Ex: “Stanford Pines & Mabel Pines (Gravity Falls)”

-Please nominate single characters in the “Relationship” section, the same as you would a ship

Ex: “Solo: Megatron (Transformers Animated)”

Fandom Tags

-Please use existing fandom tags when possible for nominations. If the requested fandom/ship has not yet been canonized, just do your best to make the fandom and characters clearly identifiable.
-Please add the fandom in parenthesis to the end of ships/solo nominations for disambiguation

Poly/Multi Ships

-Poly ships and platonic group ships are accepted

-Please limit amount of characters in group ships to four (due to the expected wordcount of gifts)

Ex: “Kim Pine/Ramona Flowers/Roxy Richter (Scott Pilgrim Takes Off)”

Crossover Fandoms

-Please submit all requests for Crossovers under “Crossover Fandom”

-Limit Crossovers to two fandoms each

‐Crossover Poly/Multi ships are fine, follow listed guidelines for Poly/Multi ships.

-When nominating ships/characters for Crossovers please disambiguate fandom for each character in each ship

Ex: “Adora (She-Re and the Princesses of Power)/Megara (Hercules 1997)”

-You are not required to request/nominated fandoms on their own in order to include them in a crossover request

Sign ups

Requests

-You must make a minimum of 3 requests, but can include up to 10

-Each request is a single fandom and 1-5 ships

-Do Not Wants/DNWs should be included in the sign-up form to ensure that your writer sees them

-You can optionally include more details (prompts, likes, etc) in the sign up form

-You can optionally include a link to an exchange letter. If you link an unfinished or placeholder letter please list an estimate on when you can finish it up for the ease of your assigned writer.

- Requests will be made public once assignments are sent out in order to allow for extra gifts

Offers
-You must make a minimum of 4 offers, but can offer up to 10

-Each offer is a single fandom and up to 10 ships

-Please ensure than you are fine with every nominated ship in a fandom if you select "Any Ships"

-Matches are made based on one fandom and ship. If your offers cannot be matched then you will be asked to alter or add to your sign-up

Assignments

Gifts

-You must submit a completed story that reaches a minimum of 500 words

-This story must be primarily about at least one ship that the recipient requested

-Crossovers should only occur if the recipient requested them or mentioned being open to them in their request/letter

-Do not ignore the recipient’s Do-not-wants/DNWs

‐Your gift may not be a chapter in an existing fanwork

-Your gift may not be a sequel/prequel to an existing fanwork unless specifically requested

-Your gift should be a complete work in itself

Anonymity

-Do not contact your recipient directly for information or clarification. Let the moderator(s) know if you are confused

-Do not publicly discuss the details of, the fandom of, or the recipient for your assignment.

-Do not upload your story on another fanwork/blogging site before the collection and authors are revealed

Defaulting

-For the time being, there will be no penalty for defaulting

-If you do not complete and upload a story by the deadline and you have not reached out to mods for accommodation, you will be automatically defaulted

-Defaulted requests will be put up as ‘pinch-hits’

-If you default and your writer also defaults, your request will not be put up for pinch-hits. If you default after your request is put up as a pinch-hit, it will be removed from the pinch-hits list.

Minisodes
-'Minisodes' are bonus gifts based on other participant's requests but that were not part of your assignment(s)

-If you do not wish to receive extra gifts/minisodes please mention that in your sign up

-The deadline for submissions and wordcount requirements for main gifts can be ignored for minisodes

-You may submit minisodes to the collection at any time from the profile page of the exchange on AO3

- Until the collection is revealed, it is expected that you keep extra gifts anonymous the same way you would an assignment

-It is not required, but it would be appreciated if you specify in an author’s note or tag that this is a 'minisode' or 'bonus gift'
