Creators Revealed + Wrap up Post

With creators revealed we’re starting to close up shop!

This is the first time I’ve run an exchange and there have been a couple of hiccups that I should have ironed out by the next round. But all in all a successful first go at things! As far as defaults go I have no plans to track them from this first round; if you had to default and did not pick up a different pinch hit you are still free to sign up again next year!

If you picked up a pinch hit on top of your assignment or without having been signed up I’m going to have a comment below you can reply to- you can either link a letter or just comment a few things from the tagset you might like to see as a gift. 

If you send a gift to one of the Pinch hitters you are free to submit it to the collection. These gifts do not have to meet word count requirements as they are considered treats/minisodes.

Next, let’s go over a few definite changes and some ‘maybe’ changes! Feel free to comment here or DM me regarding suggestions on these.

Definite Changes

-Tighter schedule: I think I was being overly cautious with the time frames. Specifically, the assignment period was very long given the low word count minimum.

-Reveals timing: I’m torn between just doing creator and work reveals at once or just shortening the gap from 2 weeks to 1 week. Definitely one of the two.

-Re-working wording on rules: Just some general clean up. Rules will stay largely the same, I just plan on clarifying a few points that I got questions on.

-Times on closings/openings/reveals: I don’t know why I picked midnight for everything. That wasn’t my greatest plan, lol

Possible Changes

-Recruiting another mod or two: If it’s like this year then the amount of participants isn’t totally unmanageable for one person, so this is not urgent. I just happened to have a lot of irl stuff pop up in the middle of the exchange that made a few things harder.

-Multi-format : Like some other exchanges, putting in the option for fanart or fanfic. It makes sense for an exchange about cartoons

Thank you for all your work running the event! It takes a lot of time (and emotion, too!).

Good luck with your plans for next year! I support the move to "not midnight" for easy clarity. :-D And also to a shorter anon period, if any.

I personally, subjectively, really appreciated the length of the writing period. Both for writing itself and because I would not have been able to participate if it had started as early and not run as long, as this event would then have fully overlapped fkficfest, to which I have a prior commitment. Perhaps the dates will be less close next year!

seconding the midnight thing! also - and you absolutely do not have to take this suggestion - it may be less confusing if the reveals happen late friday night/early saturday morning rather than late thursday night/early friday morning, because i thought the point was to wake up and read the collection on saturday morning and that contributed to my confusion about which "midnight" we were referring to. (totally my fault for not reading the date and time more closely, though! just thought i'd throw it out there in case anyone else was silly in the same way i was.)

all in all, i really enjoyed participating in this exchange. thank you for running it! 💜 looking forward to next year.

Hey! It actually was the intent, but I messed up the timing when I was setting things up and ended up sticking to it because that's how it was presented
(Intention was midnight friday night)
So I'd likely make things either like
8pm est fridays or 8am est saturdays on a future running

Hi, saw the new tagset is up on the EAD server, will you be making a post about it? Also, currently the tagset is hidden from view so we can’t see what’s in it!
